Head of Communications

Job Summary

Lead the development and execution of a strategic communication, PR, and marketing plan that strengthens FISITA’s global reputation and drives engagement with key stakeholders. This role will oversee all internal and external communications, public relations, and marketing initiatives, positioning FISITA as a leading organisation in the community of ‘the technology of mobility’.

Sustain and grow FISITA’s relevance and visibility through high tempo messaging and positioning of FISITA and its members, delivering a tactical mix of traditional communications, social media and web-based content, informational delivery, outreach and PR activities.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic leadership:

  • Develop and implement and deliver a forward-thinking communications and marketing strategy aligned with organisational goals.
  • Lead the integration of PR, digital marketing, and branding activities to ensure consistent messaging.
    Serve as a key advisor to senior leadership on communications and PR activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the whole organisation to align messaging and ensure consistency in brand representation, fostering a culture of creativity and accountability.
  • Establish and nurture an agile group of international communication experts within the membership.

Communications and PR:

  • Craft and deliver compelling narratives across all media channels to promote FISITA’s mission and impact, finalising internal and external communications activities.
  • Oversee media relations, including drafting press releases, handling inquiries, and cultivating relationships with journalists, partners and influencers.
  • Act as the organisation’s spokesperson and manage crisis communication strategies when needed.

Marketing:

  • Design and execute campaigns that enhance FISITA’s visibility and engagement with target audiences.
  • Create and deliver content for social media, website updates, email campaigns, and promotional materials.
  • Leverage market insights to identify new opportunities for outreach and engagement.

Evaluation and reporting:

  • Analyse the effectiveness of communications and marketing initiatives using metrics and reporting tools.
  • Manage the communications and marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery of objectives.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive communications and PR strategies aligned with company goals, from vision, activation and successful deployment of activities aligned with the annual business and development plans of FISITA.

  • Knowledge of automotive/mobility systems technology and the global automotive and mobility industry.

  • Multilingual.

Head of Technical

Job Description

Role: Head of Technical
Contract: Permanent
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer
Hours: 35 hours per week, remote working with quarterly in-person meetings, events attendance (one to three per year)
Salary: Dependent upon experience
Holidays: 25 days per annum (commencing)

Job Summary

Reporting to FISITA’s Chief Technology Officer, the Head of Technical will lead the day-to-day delivery of articles, reports, white papers, research, and other technical content and output for FISITA members and the wider technology of mobility community, as well as internal stakeholders. 

This is not an IT or software-related role; the Head of Technical will support the CTO in the delivery of the technical objectives of FISITA, including the generation of all technical content produced by FISITA through its Expert Groups, events, committees and special projects; engage with engineers and engineering leaders at member companies and strategic partners; and act as a technology advisor to the broader staff team, ensuring colleagues are well supported and advised as they progress plans to delivery with highly relevant outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with the CTO to develop and deliver a high-quality portfolio of technical content for the global technology of mobility community.

Manage the operational delivery of the FISITA Expert Group programme, leading to world-class output.

Liaise with technical contacts at member companies and associated organisations.

Manage the creation of a series of technical explainers published as FISITA Technical Briefings, researching topics and content, and working with an international team of technical experts drawn from FISITA membership and strategic partners.

Develop the discoverability and status of FISITA technical papers and thought leadership content, manage the FISITA Digital Library, and develop it as a reference resource for the technology of mobility community.

Manage FISITA members’ technical engagement on FISITA Connect, FISITA’s exclusive member platform.

Serve as an advisor to senior leadership and the FISITA staff team on developments in the technology of mobility and provide relevant support and guidance toward technical programme development for FISITA events and related activities.

Support the CTO with operational management of the FISITA Industry & Technical Committee and the FISITA International Strategy Group, coordinating the work of each group and developing opportunities which add value to the FISITA technical agenda.

Support the conception, development, and delivery of additional virtual and hybrid FISITA initiatives.

FISITA (UK) Ltd Non-Executive Director Opportunity

FISITA is a highly respected international membership organisation, originally established in 1948, that today provides a range of services for the automotive and mobility systems engineering community, and in doing so engages thousands of engineers around the world. 

FISITA activities are delivered in accordance with our Vision statement:

The operation of FISITA activities is conducted through a UK registered and located company, FISITA (UK) Ltd.  The remote-based staff team works with a large network of member-volunteers around the world who engage in the delivery of all membership activities. 

Recently the FISITA (UK) Ltd Board approved the creation of two additional non-executive director board positions aligned with the developing needs of the board and organisation, to deliver against the broader responsibility as NED in the rapidly advancing area of the ‘technology of mobility’ – with one role bringing financial expertise to the board.  

The new board members will be required to

  • Support delivery in achieving FISITA’s membership diversification, growth and retention objectives
  • Support the development of FISITA’s relevance and visibility within the mobility industry
  • Act in capacity as member of the board regarding good governance and long-term sustainability of FISITA (UK) Ltd and the broader FISITA organisation

  • Experienced in the technology and strategy of future mobility and ideally currently in position within a similar organisation to FISITA, or able to demonstrate an appreciation of the membership organisation sector

  • Have an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities at board level


Time Commitment:  The role will involve attending virtual and in-person, quarterly board meetings, some ongoing work between meetings, plus preparation time.
